Castles In The Sand
Threat of radiation held out, and extreme heat dissipated to a perfectly pleasant Earth temperature.
Tonight was a builder's night! Pilots debuted three newly minted ships and flew to the Revere Constellation to see the works of other builders (of the sand people type).
Lordmcfuzz showed off Kewpie, a curvy cruiser with an extended fork that Taco and Lordmcfuzz built earlier that day. It was christened with kewpie, which matches the color of the ship. He attempted to paint the newly forged fork with it with mild success. He even licked the cockpit clean after the christening.
Sewer showed off Hrímfaxi, a HARV that was reforged from the ashes of Grandaddy Purp. Sewer felt that this gang needs some more metal in SCUL and his new ship features hand sharpened cup skewers on the bottom of the ship. Sewer drank all his christening juice earlier, but he found a very fitting poem instead.
Rocket showed off 88, a curvy HARV with some sweet personality. Rocket dedicated this new ship to his late grandfather and christened it with the best ginger beer. The ship features a step through frame that can handle Rocket's funky dance moves.
Threespeed led fleet through the northern strand wormhole and ejected us onto the Revere Constellation beach. Many Civilians were very happy to see SCUL and wanted to know how to fly with us. Pilots enjoyed extended shore leave while touring the Sand People's sculptures that lined the Space walk lane. Greasy molecules were consumed before heading back to the wormhole.
SCUL stopped in a nice grassy spot right off the wormhole to rest and derby. Lordmcfuzz read off Nameless's Basic Derby tips after going over the 'rules' and etiquette of SCUL derbying. The derby took place on grass, which poses different challenges but allowed new pilots and maggots to explore new territory and skills without fear. Lordmcfuzz and Dread Flint locked brutal derby battle that ended in hugs.
While the Derbies happened other pilots chatted up some super posi civilians. The newly built ships were flown by interested pilots. Wombat took a quick nap and pilots consumed some steering dampener. SCUL observed a moment of silence and a large group hug in respect to Rocket's grandfather "Radar" and then shared stories amongst themselves of late loved ones.
Threespeed led the gang back to the fort as pilots in tow crushed as many cups as possible. In attempt to achieve the mission objectives Bane Thunderwolf initiated a surprise derby on top of Trinity against Lordmcfuzz. Lordmcfuzz promptly lost but said it did not count since Bane did not have his ribbon around his neck like Lordmcfuzz did (sore loser :P)
Catastrophe experienced a rapid loss of primary thruster plasma a fraction of a light year away from the landing pad, and 88 suffered a broken propulsion transfer conduit at the precise moment it reentered landing pad airspace. Rocket bit his tongue and didn't call mechanical, so he got to keep his Builder medal. Freaky end to a mission.
We were joined by returning maggot Proteus and babymaggot Germinator.
(Stillcam images will be uploaded soon, Rocket is now back from his granfathers funeral)
