Space Camp '24

Mission Summary

The eve of Frinight five pilots assembled on the launch pad. Skunk rallied the troops but the crew still launched late with DC in the lead and Lordmcfuzz as tailgunner. The pace was good, the transport traffic minimal, and the weather prime, as we headed towards the Tri-Community Greenway. Many rump rests were had including one in which Dr. Claw, unsurprisingly, was able to score ice cream modules two minutes prior to closing. Had a great moon sighting, dumped fuel and chalked the side of a road.

We arrived at the deep space outpost around 12:30am and set up the gear which was pre-jettisoned by Red Squirrel earlier in the day. A small fire continued to burn its last embers, chaperoned by Waltor who awaited our arrival. Diva, Threespeed, and Dead Bride were nestled in their beds while visions of vegan crumpets danced in their heads.

In the morning, we awoke groggy and thankful for said delicious vegan crumpets and jam Diva supplied. Threespeed and Dead Bride provided coffee and a full examination of their sweet custom 1971 VW sleeper transport. Ziqqurat completed a secret side mission of finding a replacement for DC's crunchy booster via Traffic Control Device and met us at the outpost.

Pilots cooled their jets in a murky nearby nebula. Due to its small size, they drifted outside the buoy system and were soon chastised to contain themselves within the buoy perimeter by a local ranger. A walk was had, veggies were grilled, and major chillaxing followed. Dead Bride provided tasty dogs, cold slaw, and veggie cous cous. A strange ice cream transport sensed Dr. Claw's presence and arrived at our site but only Ziqqurat partook in what it had to offer. Later in the evening, Threespeed, Skunk, Ziqqurat, and Red Squirrel ventured off to a late-night escapade to stargaze with Threespeed's trashpicked astronomy tripod and binoculars.

On the last morning, we woke early to pack gear. Red Squirrel accompanied Waltor back to the fort with gear and Diva took her place on the mission home. Dr. Claw's incessant need for ice cream molecules brought the crew to a nearby shop but it was closed so they had to travel to Luna Dairy Queen down the street. While stopped, Grog, Meownderthal, and civilian Scrams intercepted. They had attempted to intercept at the campground at the scheduled 1100 departure, and luckily managed to backtrack and spot us after receiving intel from Threespeed and Dead Bride. Scrams says she doesn't ride much, but when she does she rides a lot. Another lightyear or two down the road a stop was made at Luna Captain Pizza for pilots to properly refuel. Pilots sailed smoothly down the hyperspace byways, through the Woburn, Winchester, Medford, and Somerville Systems, where Grog and Scrams burnt up but Meownderthal continued with the fleet through Cambridge before arriving back at the fort, where Skunk declared mission success and pilots scrambled to retrieve gear.
