Uchill on the Uwormhole without Uhaul
Mission Objectives
- SNAX
- your local wormholes
- avoid the dreaded uhual
Mission Summary
SCUL Prime was to travel to New Bedford to visit the Starchasers for their tenth anniversary celebration, but due to unforeseen circumstances needed to be postponed. So LordMcFuzz offered to lead a local low key mission.
Before launch we had difficulty getting a flatbag carrier. We considered going to century protocol. I reminded folks that we did do a ride in June without flatbag and had no flats to which LordMcFuzz was concerned I had just doomed the mission. Luckily, Snow graciously offered to take on flat bag and to be tailgunner, so we were back on track.
Maggot Tango joined the mission and Excess joined at the launch pad bringing our total to 8 pilots. However, Excess warned us he was likely to burn up on reentry.
It was U-Hell weekend known to locals as the weekend of "The Storrowing". We opted to stick mostly to wormholes. If we spotted a U-Haul, we needed to call it up to the navigator, who needed to turn immediately to avoid it. This happened once, causing us to turn onto a dead end that had a fair amount of meteorites. Thankfully, no one experienced a plasma casing failure. In fact, the entire mission was mechanical and injury free.
Baaaaaane Thunderwolf navigated, leading us early on toward Starpath Memorial Drive where we practiced flight formations. We headed into the Cambridge and Somerville Systems and despite the dangers of potential U-Haul transports in the Harvard constellation, we managed to avoid U-Hauls and enjoy an outdoor tent. However, unlike our encounter in May, there were no cups.
After following a couple wormholes and designated shipping channels, we stopped for snax at Luna 7-11 where Skunk worked his ambassador skills.
We then took the Minuteman wormhole and Allston linear community wormhole to explore a playground, which had some deceptively unfun-to-spacewalk manmade mini g-wells. Excess tried to make them more exciting by rolling down them and LordMcFuzz decided to jump across them making them sort of OK. Perhaps they are better suited to smaller-legged civilians. Pilots also took note of what seemed to be a dangerous slide that consisted only of two angled poles, but which pilots attempted to go up and down in various configurations.
Finally we headed up the Watertown-Cambridge Greenway wormhole towards the Watertown System. There we had a surprise stop at Luna Seven Cycles where we learned about eccentric butt joints. Skunk led us on a special tour where we saw how custom high end super-lightweight ships were manufactured.
Finally, we returned to base without incident.
