With the threat of radiation looming, seventeen pilots, seventeen
ships, and thirty-three thrusters embarked from Fort Joy on the
fourth mission of SCUL's seventeenth season under the guidance of
legendary Nav-tail team DiTor after a brief last minute mechanical
intervention. With the primary objective of avoiding any prolonged
radiation exposure, the battalion entered low orbit through a deep
space wormhole before slingshotting up-system out of Somerville to
ultimately make planetfall under a transport overpass at Alewife. It
was there that Keebler tossed her cookies to everyone's delight. Two
rounds of derby were fought, and the maneuverability of a
single-thruster vessel proved decisive in the first. Wombat was
victorious in the second, which ended in a game of chicken and a
great collision.
Experimental small-scale civilian craft were located nearby and tagged
with SCUL insignia, but no pilots could fit properly into their
cockpits, which appeared to have been built for tiny aliens.
Ultimately the radiation storm never manifested, and the return
voyage led through the North Cambridge system to a welcomed refueling
stop before disembarkation at Fort Joy where two recruits, Ichirinsya
and GooseTransport, underwent evaluation following their first
official mission. After both met with approval from the assembled
pilots, a knighting ceremony for Keebler took place, and the mission
was concluded.
