Keester Bunny

On this beautiful Sateaster night, the third mission of 2014 has begun! At MRC The Joyride Bunny was busy lending a paw for our journey while Three Speed and BAAAAAAAAANE THUNDERWOOOLF prepared.
With little time to spare our hard working captain returned from a pre-mission mission with Red Squirrel. Needing to quickly prepare Star Hustler for the mission Tyrian, Threespeed, Sprocket, Bane and Dread-Flint hopped-to the Admiral's cause and quickly installed the necessary sonic disruptor to ward off any un-holy zombie space deities that the cosmos might conjure.
The night's objectives were to find tiny Orken pods located throughout the galaxy in three locations the Admiral had previously tagged in an archeological space-journey. The pods naturally contained fuel, but some of them had had the fuel removed, and been used for the hiding place of relics of an ancient alien race. This race was said to have had long ears, a cottony tail, and be covered entirely in fur. Example of alien species.

We found our first marker, not far from Fort Joy of yore, next to a busy hyperspace byway. It's amazing to think these ancient peoples had been so close at hand. However, it seemed word of the potential treasures to be found had incited every pirate, scavenger and thief in the star system to search for the Orken pods. We couldn't be certain, but there were definitely signs the site had been disturbed before our arrival. Though, without our sophisticated equipment and know-how, not to mention our determination, the amateurs preceding us had not pilfered much. We left the site with approximately what the Admiral had estimated our take would be, and flew off.

Out from the outskirts of the Union, Inman, Kendall and Lechemere constellations we found ourselves at the Canals of the Mighty Palace of Cambridge-Side. After a diversion in the path we found ourselves attracted to the abandoned crystalline web of a giant River Spider. Taking this opportunity, our navigator Waltor suggested we investigate, and the Admiral permitted us leave from the grueling journey. Tyrian, Bane Thunderwolf, Threespeed and Sprocket intensively studied the tensile tensegrity of the web while Red Squirrel documented our findings. Runt and Lite Fox examined the web for clues about the spider's habits. The Admiral and XXIII saw it fit to examine the area's flora up close, knowing the flowers on lower tree branches sometimes differ from the higher ones. Before leaving, the Admiral made an executive decision to drop fuel by the River Spider's Web, to make room for the cargo he knew we would collect at the next site.

By the familiar blue light of the Zakim Hyperspace-byway we were confused by what we believe were false-signals set up by looters to deter us from our site-claim. But once we found the signal again, most of the site was still in-tact. Red Squirrel, having been at the initial preliminary excavation of this area, provided the crew with leads as to where previous pod-deposits had been located. At this site, Sidekick and Dogi, among others, found pods which still emitted a strong glow even after resting thousands of years, hidden among the sandstone tower ruins of what seemed to be a religious site for the aliens who left them. It is no wonder word of the value of this find had spread so quickly through the sector. Lead Geologist Sprocket was especially intrigued to discover building stone with a silver sparkling quality the aliens used to decorate many of their structures. She and The Dread Pilot Flint set about investigating the architecture, even scaling the largest of the structures, which was discovered to have a spiral-shaped altar with magical qualities at the precipice. What this altar had been used for in times gone by remains a mystery. While at this site, a traveler spotted our crew engaged in excavation and landed her vessel to inquire. Her name was Happy Feet, and her curious nature appealed to the crew, so we allowed her to fly with us for the duration of the expedition. Sidekick proudly decorated her ship with her glowing pods, and as the Admiral ordered two minutes to launch a Storm Trooper descended but was quickly dispatched by some quick actions by our fleet.

Through the old space-docks of Charlestown the crew flew, questing to the distant reaches of the North-East quadrant of the Somerville System and over a hyperspace wormhole to near-deep-space. Where little starlight would reach, we came to the final site, so remote that no pirate band had discovered it's location. The exhausted crew needed the expertise of both Admiral and Red Squirrel, but derilect ships were explored, marker-posts dug around, and the over-growth thoroughly gone-through until all the Orken pods had been retrieved.

A speedy return to Fort Tyler ensued, with one last large negi g-well to climb on our way towards the Highland belt. We nearly lost our newest maggot, Lite Fox, but Three Speed rescued him from near doom. In great peril, many pilots were forced outside their ships for emergency spacewalks, but soon we were able to harness the power of a posi g-well and to drift quickly back down to the Somerville-way.

Acting Navigator Bane Thunderwolf led the crew back to the old landing pad behind the Market Mega Refueling Station, where the gang circled up to count the survivors of the mission. Finally, the crew hazed Lite Fox into official Maggot-dom under Dogi.

Returning to the fort it was discovered that perhaps a surviving member of the alien race had visited us, and placed a few more special pods into our care. We may never know why this creature chose to entrust us with these goods, but they shall be preserved and cherished. Aside from the fuel, which was consumed almost immediately.
Silly rabbit.

144 eggs lost in space in three starsystems. SCUL recovery team embarks on a rescue mission to recover the booty.

One location was raided and we suffered casualties. A little bit of uptight ST activity, but nothing we can't handle.

Big thanks to Red Squirrel and Skunk for over 11 hours of SCUL activity in one day.
