Starchasers Cranksgiving
As Gobblezilla approaches, we - The Starchasers - readied our ships to fly against hunger on an adventure across the New Bedford Starsystem in search of food molecules for families in need this holiday season. The crew rendezvoused with agents of the United Way of Greater New Bedford at the usual launchpad, in the center of the Buttonwood Constellation. The sonically disruptive fanfare emanating from Starfire's radioboxen heralded our arrival and we were greeted by the sounds of civilian cheers. However, through the combined powers of the UW and WFHN107, our launchpad had been transformed into a funk-busting donation drop-site of super heroic proportions! Amidst the buzzing of worker bees unloading transport vehicles, weighing donations, and repackaging supplies to be loaded onto their mothership, this band of brave pilots prepared for launch.
Following the pleasantries and selfies of first contact, the Division Admiral provided the mission briefing. A manifest was provided to each pilot to guide them through their adventure. It was time to launch!
Mission Parameters:
1. Pilots are issued a 5-columned BINGO-style manifest card.
2. Each column represents a supermarket.
3. At each supermarket, the mission leader announces a shopping category (fruit, vegetable, side, dessert, etc...) and pilots will have 5 minutes to acquire those items from that supermarket's column.
4. At the final stop, if a pilot connects 5 items across all five columns, they have a BINGO!
5. The first pilot to exit the supermarket and shout "BINGO!" is the winner!
We made our way out of the Buttonwood Constellation, through the DNB Quadrant, and toward The Luna Price Rite! As we flew to our first destination, passing transport pilots marveled at our funky fleet of mighty spaceships led by our befowled Admiral. We brought smiles to everyone we passed!
At the first stop, our pilots docked their ships, received their objective, and began the mad dash in search of food in under 5 minutes! And they did! Of course, they did! 5-minutes exactly... yeah. Okay. Maybe not 5-minutes exactly. But due to a slight miscommunication on the part of the mission leader, many pilots set out to collect everything on their cards. So, we through out the rules and set out to have a good time!
We made three more stops - Luna Save-a-lot, Luna Seabra, and Luna Stop & Shop. Civitron stood sentry and danced while the rest of the crew raided each market for the tastiest of space food. Mad Owl was tasked with obtaining double his haul to make up for it. As we exited the fourth market, it became clear that we were not going to make the drop in time. So, we skipped the fifth market and headed straight for the Hunger Heroes drop site, gobbling cheerfully as we made our descent.
The UW agents unloaded our supplies and weighed them before boxing them up and loading them onto the mothership. Together, we collected over 130lbs of food! Mission Accomplished!
