High-Five Posi Vibe-Check

Mission Summary

For the first week this season, it wasn't pouring radiation during or immediately before the mission, though it was still a little nippy from some showers earlier in the day. Mission leader Bane decreed this week would be a mission of positive funkitude, to spread the good vibes through a never-ending stream of high-fives to the general populous. He announced on the launchpad that hi-fives would be worth double points, so this ended up being a great mission for those after pointless points to increase their rank. (woohoo bring on points!) There were no cadets or new ships to Christen but Tango had a guest, Sourdough, who joined for our mission.

With Happenstance tailgunning and Meownderthal at the helm, we headed out through the Cambridge and Somerville Systems to try to intercept the sometimes-elusive Wandering Cricket Night Market. "Mechanical" was called, but before pilots turned hard about to rendezvous, the problem was resolved and we contined on our way. Upon arrival pilots explored various heavy transports. Pilots worked on close combat skills in pillow fights where there was a high degree of fluff in the air. Others explored karaoke, Twilight Zone episodes, trippy video capture, stand up comedy and had some temporary tattoos put on---they didn't have quite the aesthetic of the SCUL tattoos of yore, but still provided some fun. While stopped, a few pilots and civilians partook in Snow's traditional Snow Juice™ and smelled the acrid air ripe with a particular plant.

Our next planned stop was for snax, but not long after relaunch, Summer suffered a catastrophic nail-to-the-thruster, which resulted in immediate and complete discharge of all plasma. Wombat got to work on the repair with the skillful assistance of Meownderthal. As pilots waited for the repair to be complete we got to chalking up the sidewalk with our hi-Five vibes and Ziqqurat developed a challenging hopscotch course after which there was some disagreement about how hopscotch is supposed to traditionally be played. Perhaps different galaxies and systems have different rules.

Once the repair was complete, the fleet headed through the Lechmere constellation to stop at the Luna North Point Snackerie, which has become our go-to snack stop as of late. Pilots shared smushed muffin molecules and pistachio mochi. Once again there was a strong acrid skunky scent in the air of a certain plant that we just couldn't seem to escape.

After refueling we headed back to the fort through the Cambridge System passing through the Kendall Constellation, and up planet Mass. Ave., where many more double-point high fives were collected by all (posi!). Back near base Meownderthal took a celebratory loop through the pump track, where Ziqqurat stalled out and splatted after biting off more than he could proverbially chew riding Traffic Control Device up one of the embankments. It was just a quick repair and we were back on our ships again.

At the landing pad, Bane declared mission success, the pomp and circumstance of our successful mission was interrupted by an idiot in a wannabe muscle transport making screechy donuts in the Asylum arena. Three pilots bravely stared him down and scared him off with nothing but disapproving glares and some well-placed laser beams. Once he left we resumed our thanks for the bags and nav-tail and headed into the fort to safety.
