Plymouth Pilgrimage: Century 2023
Mission Summary
Nine foolhardy, die-hard pilots arrived at the fort at the ass-crack of dawn for an 0600 launch a full week *after* Omegamission to ride the rescheduled Plymouth Century, which had been postponed due to severe radiation on its originally scheduled weekend (and most other weekends around it). Pilots became concerned and called Ziqqurat when he had not arrived at 5 minutes before the scheduled launch, and learned he had accidentally set his "weekday" alarm instead of his "weekend" alarm (rookie mistake). Pilots bided their time performing additional preflights as they awaited his arrival via Hubway.
The cold grips of winter had already seized the air, as pilots bundled many layers to retain as much body heat as possible over the course of the day, and in particular when the temperature plunged after the retreat of the daystar. The air was ~48 F at its peak warmth around 1400, and dipped all the way down to the mid-to-low 30s by mission's end.
