Pre-mission preparatory advice: Take a nap before this one.
- see all the raised hands when Fleet Admiral Skunk asked who took a nap?
THE MOON WAS AMAZING!
Stay up all night and GREET THE DAWN…
En route to the sunrise at Castle Island, Threespeed & eXcEsS dumpster-dived for donuts at Luna Lyndell's - special bonus: any mission that includes BREAKFAST is a good one - Thanks to Red Squirrel for yummy sangies & to Dead Bride & Threespeed for coffee, donuts, sausage, eggs, and Pop Rocks.
Launch-time of 0300 - that's the easy part - the rest of the ride was also easy, except for THE SPACE MADNESS, which dissipated like reverse vampirism with the sunlight shining us back to our senses in some kind of warp-factor twisty anomaly. We had a jolly time on a wacky late-night & early morning - it was crazy & hazy & this reporter's brain felt like the
PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME song.
The great thing about riding in the wee hours is that nobody is around & pilots are free to take up ALL THE SPACE for
fanciful flight formations and plentiful cup crushing…
SCUL patrolled (cruised casually) along the waterfront on the way to THE SUGAR BOWL outpost, where pilots played and danced, flew kites, read a chalk message from
Operation Night Watch and had a rendezvous with a veteran pilot called Krank.
HIGH FIVES ARE SCARCE, but upon the rise of the DayStar, they return with plenty of early risers & are easy to see. SCUL rarely rides in the daylight & it was a JOYRIDE to home base.
The night was a blissful blur - and THE SUN WAS AMAZING
(but the moon was bettah)
