Mission Summary
The mission began with a remarkably effective rendezvous (woohoo) at the So. Acton Station: three discrete groups of SCUL pilots converged with exactly the sort of promptness expected of seasoned pilots such as ourselves.
Diva navigated us on a pleasant route to the Luna Market Basket of Maynard where we procured S.N.A.X. and things to throw on the grill. Outside, some food fell in love with Compliance (and thought the other ships were grooovy too) but then didn’t even stay to watch us launch! Their loss.
From there we flew directly to SS117 and got busy grilling and consuming a variety of molecules. Ziqqurat “just throw it on the grill” [Surname Redacted] turned into a grilling machine, for which we were all grateful. He was also the source of some quotable moments such as:
“Would somebody mind keeping their eye on my sausage?”
“Well let me tell you about MY favorite projection- the Pierce quincuncial projection!”
We geeked out about many things- transit, maps, math (Hairy Ball Theorem) and more. As we enjoyed our conversation, the chilly, drizzly weather lead to the discovery that Dr. Claw CAN get cold! He was given a blanket to keep warm (and look adorable snuggling). Threespeed and Deadbride tried to crack Waltor and Diva's Basement Boulder problem. No success (yet… growth mindset!).
Excess managed to drop by for some hot tubbin with us. The tub was indeed hot, and bubbly. (Too bubbly? Change places!). Cold weather and light radiation didn't stop Punchy from getting ice cream from Erikson's, and being fully immersed in the tub a mere 15 minutes before closing time didn’t stop Ziqqurat from joining the molecule procurement expedition.
Everyone chose to fly home together despite the conditions, so Diva shared the product of her impulse buy (HUNDREDS of small glowing tubes), allowing pilots to be visible for their long ride home. We thanked our hosts for their outstanding hospitality, and off we flew into the night.
