Mission Summary
Mission control sounds the alert that the launch time is nearing as pilots perform their pre-flight duties. Lordmcfuzz and Punchy ponder over why mission control is just a blank screen and later a frozen incomplete screen. Both pilots trying to diagnose and fix mission control for a little while before achieving success. Ziqqurat prepares a new cadet named Azimuth for their first mission. After trying out a few ships, they decided on Centvrion. Punchy makes sure that every job is taken and even assigns Wombat mission debriefer in the hopes they show up at Wombat'o'clock. Dr. Claw makes some last-minute adjustments to the night's maritime playlist, electing to keep a special track once Grog checks in with Gate Attendant Dead [Buffet]. Ziqqurat makes several custom-fitted Dixie Cup hats for pilots who want them. Those Pilots would be seen throughout the mission wearing them at various points, proving that the construction of them was sound and long-lasting.
With Ziqqurat as the navigator (second time), a fresh route was executed based on Dr. Claw's request on maritime theming. It was a straight route to the Charles Asteroid Belt, no tacking needed. The fleet experiences a high level of excitable food, even for the later launch time than usual. The new higher education recruits are exploring the area on a hot and sticky night and we let them know that this is part of our territory with some high fives. Only some of them were up for the challenge but they will learn who we are and what we do soon enough if they keep staying out late to find us.
Crossing the Asteroid belt via the Salt and Pepper bridge the fleet happened upon a disheveled Luna 711 to obtain Salt and Citrusy snax. The Luna 711 did not appear to be dealing with the heat and humidity that the night was dishing out as they had several machines on the floor trying to convert the atmosphere into something more hospitable. With Snax obtained Threespeed tipped of Dr. Claw and Ziqqurat of some unique sea vessels that would be cool to check out. Pilots rushed to see the ships in the Hart Nautical Gallery while Lordmcfuzz took sentry. Pilots said it was a worthy shore leave and considered bringing in one of our small spaceships for a still cam.
Ziqqurat then led us to a real navel yard where we buzzed the Constitution and sounded our class 1 sonic disruptors. A brief but satisfying shore leave overlooking the skyline and yacht docking was experienced near the Spaulding Rehab center before making our way across the Asteroid belt again but this time via some maritime locks. The Boston System was very lively, even past midnight. The newest tourist attraction 'Cop Slide' was still busy. (You can check out Scul's evaluation of it before it was popular
here) Several pilots were happy to note "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" was playing over the fleet's class 2 sonic disruptors while passing by such a feature. The fleet picked up some Klingons who wanted to fly with us but did not get too close if they could help it.
Post mission, Ziqqurat took on mission debriefer which ended up being a whole gang activity. Groans were made at each additional task remembered or prompted by Punchy reminding them it's on the taskforce listing. Azimuth learned a bunch about the process and that the gang keeps impeccable data on our collective activities, like that Ziqqurat has done the task of Mission Debriefer three times before this one. Pilots debated about the gwell activity and what it should be rated as. Some pilots only remembered that one hard gwell at the end of an alleyway whereas others remembered both the Longfellow and Everett Street bridge gwells. Lordmcfuzz argued for a higher rating because Grog had a hard time at the Everett Street bridge, but he was quickly told that was due to an unrelated event. Pilots were surprised on how many high fives were experienced tonight. After a quick summary was written about the mission, Ziqqurat started to share some amazing facts about some of the places we flew by.
