I Don't Want To Grow Up
Let's play!
We hit the launch pad with 22 pilots on board. Stogie and Threespeed
came and hung around for a bit before splitting. Everyone was excited
for the return of PainBunny, lost in space for 4 Earth years, and
Hapto, returning after an 8 month gap. We received exciting news when
Hapto announced that she would be gracing us with her navigating.
Also, lots of warnings...
Excess introduced XFD Chutes & Ladders, the newest ship of the fleet,
and his first build! Posi! Bane Thunderwolf's speedy toy car helped
pull the gang together so we could finally fly.
Pilots set out ready for fun and adventure! Through loops and turns
and crazy spins we went. Retard got a little too excited and
attempted to climb a parking gate on Trinity, but the steep slope and
slippery edges were not in her favor. Before a total face plant,
pilots rushed over to stabilize the ship and brought the pilot down
safely. Phew!
As we descended Mass. Ave, the Star Wars theme blared while an
in-flight fight erupted! Lightsaber, wielded by Retard vs. Thalo's
mighty ray gun. According to Vomit, "I think this is the
dorkiest we've ever been." But the night is still young!
Entering the Central Constellation, the gang arrived at Luna 7/11 and
halted to refuel and gorge on unsavory snacks. The sonic disruptors
blast Bohemian Rhapsody: let the head banging commence! Long locks
whipped through the air while Hapto performed an interpretive
dance.
We screwed our heads back on and busted out the toys! Piranha
impressed some pilots with her magic cube and everyone was jealous of
Thalo's shark bananas. Bane Thunderwolf's toy continued to butt into
conversations and feet.
During a series of labyrinthine turns through Cambridgeport, Skunk
and Wombat swapped ships, unleashing Skunk to zip around through
unsuspecting pilots on SwampThing.
We headed over to Riverside park to PLAY. Swings and climbing,
chalking and hooping, juggling and paper airplanes! An intense game
of tag broke out and no one was left out. Our awesomeness attracted
the attention of some awesome civis, a long boarder, and
unfortunately an ST. We made our exit stage left in search of more
night fun.
BANG! ChromePony has a rear blowout on the road! While Nosepicker and
Piranha worked on changing the thruster, Vomit spotted a tear in the
plasma casing. Pilots gathered around deciding what to do, while
Nosepicker got right to work. Thanks to Hackworth providing needle
and thread, Nosepicker stitched up the casing in mere minutes. Bane
Thunderwolf's toy helped by knocking over tools, and the gang helped
by acting like toddlers. Moose offered to swap parts with LokiDucker
to ensure a stable ride. The seam holds! Posi!!! Hapto had to depart,
so we all said our farewells and Y.T. took over on navi. Onward!
Mechanical... or technical... Wombat got stuck in some trees during a
particularly hairy turn, bringing Cloudbuster crashing down! Wombat
took a dive into the marble, but emerged miraculously unscathed, save
a single immaculate gash on his left elbow. After a few shakes, the
crew set off again for our final destination.
The fleet arrived at the spinny playground. Thank goodness they fixed
those spinners. Pilots went wild over the structures and tossed
hoops. DreadFlint gave Chutes & Ladders a shot, while Frenchy and
Poutine shared secrets of an inter-system wormhole waiting to
spawn.
After some play, pilots got tired and decided it's time to navigate
home. On the way, we got a lovely surprise from Zygoat. The surprise
being Zygoat! Secret surprise: upon her exit, she lost her footing
and hit the floor! Oops. Errr.... the cat came back.
We returned to the lauchpad only three pilots down. With a medal for
Hackworth and an artifact for Nosepicker, we called it a night and
hit the hay.
