Mission Summary

Commissioner Kilo3 of the SCUL Public Infrastructure Taskforce (S.P.I.T.) has announced the annual general review of infrastructure improvements undertaken in the last fiscal year. A public meeting will be hosted by the review board on stardate 240615. To register for this meeting, please click on the link on the "upcoming missions" page. Meeting Notes:
The meeting was slightly delayed due to technical issues, but once things were underway, Kilo3 gave an overview of the review hearing and its main objectives. Kilo3 also introduced their colleagues Assistant Director Ziqqurat , leading the site walks, and Chief Foreperson Vomit, bringing up the rear. The audience was a mix of seasoned pilots, including a visiting Bowser from the Starchaser division, and newer voices, including babymaggots Antiphase and Dojo. Each veteran pilot introduced themselves by stating that they were dues-paying SCUL members and remarking on how many years they had served.

The first site visit was to the Carlton Street Footbridge in the Brookline starsystem. Reopened recently after nearly 50 years of neglect, the formerly rusted hulk has been resurrected with new features such as accessible ramps (for the heavy or long-wheelbased among us) and runnels (for more spry ships).

The next stop was for snax, which turned into a lengthy wookieeing session as pilots Bane Thunderwolf and Leotard attempted to troubleshoot audio issues with JVH Trinity. During the stop, the group was intercepted by Cosima on her civy ship. Meeting participants were placated by the refreshments on offer as audio issues were resolved.

From there, we proceeded to the Boylston Street bike lanes, still under construction at the time of the public meeting. An audit found this infrastructure to be working effectively, barring a small area infiltrated by delivery scooters. Follow-up safety audits will be scheduled at a later date. After leaving the Boylston construction area, the meeting became very technical and there were a few areas that required specialized knowledge to follow. Both veteran meeting-goers as well as newcomers participated enthusiastically and skillfully. After awhile, audio issues returned so primary groove was transferred over to TTL Albatross.

The next site visit was to the Washington Street bridge. This site was not fully finished and thus could not be fully evaluated for the purposes of this review meeting. Nonetheless, meeting participants appreciated the progress.

The final site visit is the crown jewel of the Cambridge system - Inman Square. All enjoyed the new plaza complete with trees, benches, and a massive new sculpture of an elk that was deemed "not climbable" thus passing its safety rating with flying colors. Here, the board held a ceremony for maggot Crater, earning a promotion in rank.

After pilots enthusiastically shared their opinions, a great cheer was raised for newly minted Pilot Crater. We busted more funk as the meeting headed towards its conclusion, enjoying a joyful romp on car-free Memorial Drive on the way.
