Operation

The Flamboyance!

Mission Objectives

  • Bring all the flaminglam with as many flamingo shirts, floaties, hats etc. as we can muster or your most flamboyant finery
  • Snax
  • Fly in formation demonstrating at least three flight formation patterns
  • Take a group photo standing flaminglamorously (e.g. one legged stance)
  • Leave some civies tickled pink by bequeathing a few (easily removable) flamingos to public areas (e.g. chalk, flamingo barnacles, etc.)
  • Bonus points if a flamingo floatie enters water for flambuoyancy

Mission Summary

8 pilots congregated to form a flaminglamorous flamboyance1 at the launch pad to preen and display their colors under the shrouded gaze of the daystar, with hopes of avoiding heavy radiation predicted for usual launch time. Much daystar protection lotion was applied, and the flock flew deep into the Boston system, making their way onto the DPDW starpath. Alighting briefly beside the Charles Asteroid Belt, a flamingo floaty made a daring flight to float in the waters to prove its (flam)buoyancy. The first launch was near disastrous, with the floaty capsizing immediately when entering the water. Luckily, the flamingo was securely held, and quickly retrieved for the second attempt. After retrieving and drying the floaty, the fleet regrouped, bequeathed a few flamingos, and took off again.

Onwards to the Public Garden, where the fleet dove in for a speedy still cam record. 8 pilots and 1 ship stood in a flamingo pose, before quickly returning to the space lanes. Crossing the Charles Asteroid Belt, the fleet entered territory that was deemed suitable for formation flight, and the fleet formed a flying-V, before breaking formation and landing for proper shore leave, where navigational warp cores were reenergized, and flaminglamorous chalk was laid down. Onwards they then flew, finding transport free starpaths to work again on formation flying. Here the fleet formed a Scoop, a Wall, and Flamingo Formation (a newly developed formation that requires synchronised head turning), before Lordmcfuzz burned up.

A mostly direct path was planned for refuelling, along which Kilo3 navigated new infrastructure in the Inman Constellation in manner that surprised and delighted all pilots. Last minute navigational guidance from DrClaw directed the fleet to land near Luna H Mart, where snax were collected and pecked at. With the fleet full on fuel and finished all required formations, and impending radiation looking more threatening, the fleet made haste back to the fort.
